Police smash their way into car to rescue a doll.

When police heard reports of a baby trapped in a car, they rushed to rescue it.

And on realising that the only way to get into the car would be to break a window, they quickly did their duty.

But moments later, they were embarrassed to realise that the baby they had gone to such lengths to save was in fact a doll.

3. I had sympathy but after reading the story and seeing the photo
It is wrong wrong wrong to have something like that so realistic. There could be serious consequences when the kids with those dolls grow up.

20. Well, I know when I first used a real lawn mower I was devastated that soap bubbles didn't come out.
So maybe you have a point.

4. You know, my daughter would take her baby doll and she had her own 'baby car seat'
and we'd strap her in to be safe just like Emily and everything. I was always afraid I'd get pulled over because the doll was in the front seat which was the only spot available. Sometimes the doll would be in an actual infant car seat which was in the car when I wasn't babysitting my niece and would be left in there when we went in the store. Imagine if someone had thought it was an actual baby. Frankly I'd rather they be safe than assume it was a doll and be wrong . I didn't look at the picture so if there was no doubt I don't know.

One time I almost forgot my daughter in the car. My oldest reminded me. A source of panic for me at all times. Whether my kids are with me or not I will always check to make sure no one is in that seat. When I went to work when my oldest was a baby sometimes I dropped her off at the sitters and sometimes I didn't. I was tired and was so fearful that I'd just go to work and forget to drop her off or something. I am a worrier.

29. i looked at it after i posted. i thought my daughter's was realistic looking.
but that was because of the size. it wasn't THAT realistic looking. maybe from a distance. the one in that picture was realistic looking. i don't know if it's a good idea to have a doll looking THAT realistic except maybe for the purposes of EMT training or something. those poor police officers.

I'm sorry but the whole "Reborn" doll thing makes my skin crawl. IMO the people that buy these THINGS are more than a few fries short of a happy meal. Your Mileage May Vary.

19. My granddaughter has a doll that she carries around
We were in a store one day during the summer last year, and she had forgotten the doll in the car.

It was very hot and we were parked quite a ways away...so I told her that the doll would be fine until we got back out to the car.

She started crying and said in a LOUD voice..."Why won't you get my baby brother out of the car!!"

Talk about embarrassing and having to explain to other shoppers it was just a doll.

If they were not sure, better to err on the side of caution. Don't be embarrassed guys. Too many kids and animals have died in this heatwave to deal in recriminations.

35. The police did the RIGHT thing, let's not make fun of good intentions!
Police sometimes make horrible mistakes. This is NOT one of those times!

Look at the picture of the doll in the link if you question my opinion!

I think the police should be commended for what they did because it could have been a real baby.

And the fact that is wasn't moving probably made the decision for them. This is a GOOD cop story we should all be able to get behind.

I would have done the same thing. She acts like she's loving the attention she's getting from the doll - and this isn't the first time it has happened with her, either.

She should have to pay her own repair costs for being an idiot.
