"Super Congress" (fast-tracked Gang of 12) via "debt ceiling" blackmail => Shock Doctrine |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 11:57 AM by Faryn Balyncd
If it was not so utterly tragic, we would have to admit its sheer political brilliance.
...And far beyond the previous achievements, or even the (wet) dreams, of Rove & Luntz.
Other than the first ever LINKING of the historically routine debt ceiling rise to forced dismantling of the Social Compact, could the Rasputins of the Right have EVER devised a more effective method to bypass democratic process & force the Shock Doctrine upon the United States of America?
And to reduce our choices to 2 variations of fast-tracked Gang of Twelve?

being pushed by Wall Street interests in BOTH parties.
The Republicans are fighting fairly openly now to dismantle Medicare and Social Security.
The Reid plan attempts to win accolades for "attempting" to protect SS and Medicare, while it actually would slip into place a structure to remove our ability to defend ourselves from such assaults in the future.

I also see these so-called "Gangs" of whatever number as bypassing the actual legislative process and a very bad idea.

3. We are being 'shocked and awed' |

And anyone who thinks the Social Programs are not the main target of all of this, are simply not paying attention to what has been going.
Interesting too how for the first time in MY memory, Obama and Pelosi were able to get the party in line to vote unanamously against a bill they didn't like. Weren't we told that this is not possible, that Democrats are 'like cats, impossible to herd'? Seems when they really want something, the WH and the leadership actually can get it done.

7. So you are saying we should not only submit to blackmail, but be silent? |

And that markets will ignore the actions of Congress, but collapse because of posts?
Or did you simply forget to add (or think unnecessary) a sarcasm icon?

standard non sequitur.
"Did you remember to pick up some toilet paper?"
"No I forgot. I hope that doesn't affect the Asian markets."
For sports fans:
"He had a no hitter through seven innings until a Met hitter broke it up with a bloop single."
"Wow. That is something else. Good for the Mets, bad for the Asian markets."
So yes sarcasm was intended.
