The first thing to do with the pending Aug. 2 deadline on the federal debt limit is to calm down.

That's right -- calm down. snip

* This has happened before. From Nov. 14-Nov. 19 of 1995 and from Dec. 16, 1995 to Jan. 6, 1996, the federal government was technically "shut down."

In a scenario similar to today, the dispute was between a Democratic president, Bill Clinton, and a Republican Congress, then led by Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.

Whoever wrote this obviously doesn't understand there is a HUE difference between the government shutting down and the United States defaulting on it's financial obligations.

1. What's a "HUE" difference?
Like, color level, saturation, balance...?

3. For some reason this reminds me of Cheney and his Emergency plans to take
over in the event of disaster - maybe this can be declared a disaster, Obama can take the powers Cheney assigned to the President in that case. The right will melt down and the left will be happy since he'll finally have the power they attribute to him.
