14. The frickn republicans are the ones who pushed that linkage. This country consists of idiots. They
elected a group who were responsible for the financial collapse, and will soon be responsible for it happening again

If there is a liquidity crisis, I hope those imbeciles who voted for the tea party candidates are the first to have their unemployment insurance, credit cards, and health care rejected

These scum have caused a lot of suffering in this country by their actions

17. You are so right. Scum is too nice a word for republicans.
The people who voted this scum in office will be bellyaching the loudest when reality hits them between the ears.

34. I think that bill was designed to not pass but test who voted which way...
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 03:53 PM by cascadiance
It wasn't seriously meant to use as means of getting a bill out of the House to the Senate.

Now currently if they were to put forth this bill, with little or no other choices available, perhaps this time the House might collectively vote differently, and I believe the Senate would pass such a bill.

Not holding my breath, but I think then the message should be that you either pass this bill, or crisis happens, and then Obama just uses the 14th Amendment to avert it, when it's been shown that the House is completely dysfunctional when trying to put any kind of useful and practical bill to pass for this. Gives him ammunition to make such a decision then too that would be really hard to impeach him for, without subjecting those trying to impeach him to be impeached themselves, especially if they were part of those that stood in the way of any useful bill coming out of the House.

35. Damn it, my soon to be "ex congressman" David Wu was one of the 11!
Perhaps we should have demanded he NOT stay in congress through this vote instead of waiting until after it was over. A lot of f'ing good he did for us by voting against it!

I'd like to hear some of these folks' reasoning before passing judgement, but they owe their constituents explanations.

And Iowa City's rep where I used to go to school, David Loebsack, also voted against it. I sent him money last election. I think I'm going to ask him what he was doing with this vote that justifies me donating to him in the future.

Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 04:02 PM by cascadiance
Too bad we didn't have that meeting next week instead. We could've started a resolution asking him to step down NOW before he does any more damage to our district! Damn. As soon as I move to a place we have a jerk of a congressman stepping down we have to replace. Before it was Duke Cunningham when I moved to San Diego. Now it is David Wu, supposedly one of our own.

I think minimally he owes us an explanation of why he voted this way if he feels he should continue "serving" us here in Portland.
