2. I understand tha, but in the grand scheme...why are there those that say he can't?
Precedent is a powerful thing.

6. I thinks at this time it's the best way to go
there really isn't a hell of a lot left that we can give up.

4. Actually, Truman did nothing of the sort.

The 14th was used as an argument in a SCOTUS case, which he lost. The situation involved his nationalizing some steel plants at the beginning of the Korean War. The 14th Amendment was never even mentioned until it was brought up in defence of his action in the Supreme Court. The court said what he did was unconstitutional.

The debt ceiling was never increased during Truman's time in office.

Whoever wrote that in HuffPo has incorrect information.

9. Oops! Sorry. I forgot.

So many Internet postings based on Clyburn's incorrect statement about Truman.

Nobody bothers to check anything anymore. It took me five minutes to find the truth on Google. And this OP was based on a tweet, for pete's sake.

Apparently a tweet from someone is a valid news source these days. Feh!

5. I believe it is viable in times of crisis. I wish Obama would put
a stop to the Repubs damn political posturing and put the 14th into action. I think the American people would applaud him for courage to put an end to this bullshit.
