1. Many of the DC alum have been saying that. One man said
he's the saddest he's ever been observing the level of fighting and animosity with no concern for the American people. :(

7. That's an understatement
The whole world is starting to take notice of the sheer breakdown of the American government.

This doesn't look good.

9. I am shocked it has gone on this long. I really thought the GOPers would give in by now..
especially considering their fat cat investment/corporate types that bank roll them who are one going to lose the most if we hit the debt ceiling and default and our credit rating drops. I underestimated the stupidity and hard-core narrow-mindedness of the teabaggers. However, I still think a deal will be made... reality is starting to sink in... for everyone.

10. They won't give in till the last possible moment...
..and they might push it into next week.

As long as President Obama's approval ratings keep dropping (and at the moment they are reaching all time lows) they will keep pushing this until they completely overreach.

Even when they lose, and they will - they'll have still won. We are no longer talking about stimulating demand, we are no longer talking about focused stimulus or programs to put people back to work. Nope, all we're talking about now is the deficit. It's not going to get any better either since we are just around the corner from the next budget fight.

Personally, I think the best thing that could happen is the teabaggers shut down the government and create a major sell off. If they do enough damage, even limited, we will make them own the crappy economy all the way through 2012.

11. Unless the non-teabagger Repubs can work a deal with the Dems and the WH.
then they wont need the teabagger votes.

12. This is just a game...
We already know the path forward - the Reid bill or resurrected Boehner bill in the Senate (it was tabled, not killed). Sometime in the next few days our President and 60+ senators will agree to something, send it to the House and it will pass with mostly Democratic votes.

The Republicans are just pushing this until the public turns on them. Because this is still hurting the President they are content to keep the charade going.

Today's Gallup poll shows Obama at 40A/52D. That is his all time low. Oh the Republicans are faring worse in polling, but the sad truth is the 2012 election will be a referendum not a choice. The more they hurt Obama and our economy, they better the GOP believe they'll do.
