You have no idea what Loughner's political beliefs are. While I think the Paulbots are mostly dreamers and completely naive, I am quite sure none would read Loughner's insane rants and agree with them.

I doubt very much that Loughner's politics, such that you could find a way to describe them or assign them to the right or left, had very much to do with this assassination attempt. The kid appears to be completely insane - possibly a paranoid schizophrenic.
