Did I just hear Chuck Todd say the "Super Congress" was back on the table?
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 09:23 PM by BattyDem
He was talking so fast - it was hard for me to keep up.

He said what it looks like now is a 6 month extension to the debt ceiling with Obama getting the power to raise it as needed unless Congress stops him. There would be an initial round of cuts, followed by more cuts that would be determined by the Super Congress. NO REVENUES ... and I don't believe he mentioned anything about SS, Medicare and Medicaid.

Please tell me I heard wrong or misunderstood what he said!

:wtf:

13. It's the McConnell plan.
Obama would have the power to raise the debt ceiling unless Congress vetoes it (or more accurately ... Congress puts together a veto-proof majority to stop him).

3. He said SS would not be included in the across the board cuts but
Medicare would. You may assume Medicaid would be cut. And yes he said the super congress was back in play.

10. Since the price of Medicare comes out of the Social Security check, then...
it is a cut to Social Security.

15. I'm thinking they will increase deductibles for Medicare users.
That of course means more money for insurance companies who provide medicare supplemental policies.

21. A little more explanation
from TPM and The Hill snipped here (from earlier today) Both revised plans (Boehner and Reid's) included it.

When the C-Span House debate was airing, there was a crawler that included that aspect (commission) as well.
