7. Another HUGE opportunity being wasted. He could simply invoke the 14th amendment,
save the day, be considered the one real adult in the room and a hero, and if anyone tried to impeach him for it they would be skewered for it. But no, a "bipartisan" deal with cuts to the desperately needed social safety net was what this was about from day one.

9. Unfortunately, by caving into their demands
the people that don't know any better are going to think that it was the DEMOCRATS obstructing this entire debacle, because after all, why would they bring the country to the brink of disaster only to give the republicans what they wanted anyway? What was the point?
