Is it just me, or has our American democracy become as weak as the Weimar Republic circa 1929?

Is the Pope Catholic?

http://www.barnsdle.demon.co.uk/hist/tyra.html

The Nazis got into power through a familiar route - they filibustered, delayed, blocked and kept anything useful from being passed in the Reichstag, and made the country ungovernable without their assent. For a while, the President got around this by invoking Article 48, declaring a state of emergency, and ruling by decree to keep the country lurching forward. But then the Nazis insinuated themselves into the Presidency.

Germany's government could not act without the assent of the Nazis, even though they were a minority.

America's government cannot act without the assent of the Tea Party Republicans, even though they are a minority.

And like Hindenburg, our President is too weak to act as an effective counterbalance to the crazy.

I think we're fucked.

1. I've lately just begun really fearing this possibility myself.
Will Michelle Bachman be the fuhrer?

3. The Tea Party is a nazi-like, kkk-like group...
... created, aided, and abetted by the rightwing media and corporate
funding.

6. I see another worrying connection.
A lot of people are concerned that we will have a currency collapse like the Weimar Republic because of our government spending. In fact, the prime cause of the collapse of Weimar's currency was a dramatic decline in their productive capacity.

If we continue to disinvest in our domestic economy and allow a huge portion of the population to remain unemployed, we could end up in a sort of economic death spiral that might eventually lead to a Weimar style collapse. Ironically, the people who think they are saving us from such an outcome may be causing it.

8. They think they're saving us?
No, they're deliberately causing economic collapse.

Because Obama was unwilling to go nuclear on the Tea Party subhumans, he was stuck with a choice between an economic assfucking and a worse economic assfucking.

They know exactly what they're doing. They're deliberately crashing the economy so they can Shock Doctrine us straight into totalitarianism.
