The War on You
The War on You

Let the word go forth from Washington! The corporate rulers occupying our nation's capital have declared war on just about every citizen.

Have no doubt: those in the upper ranges of the top 1% of wealth in this country (aka The Money Party) want to kick you to the curb.

They want to reduce your social security and make you go broke paying for medical care.

They want to lower your wages and trash your retirement.

They ignore the clear facts that we've had negative job growth since 2000 and the situation is just getting worse.

They want to ship jobs, factories, and entire businesses overseas and give companies that do that a big fat tax credit for doing so.

They've been given so much for nothing for so long. Now, they're ready to take it all. It's their time!

11. Frealing out;)
That's what they're doing on the hill, like some bad acid trip.

Here's what the deficit looks like without the Bush tax cuts, without the two wars, and in a normal economy -- ZERO

So what's the hangup, crisis - it's all about NOT having to discuss this - preserving it all for the Money Party.

24. I beieve that we will
They went too far this time. They're reaching for too much. There's no real support. Just look at the Republican congressional
approval ratings and that NY state special election where the hugely Republican district went Democrat all on Social Security.

There was the support for a fight and for wiping out the Bush tax cuts. Instead, the fight was against the people.

It's a rigged game and now it's apparent to all. Too many people effected by this to let it ride...

9. A minor misstatement...
"They ignore the clear facts that we've had negative job growth since 2000"

No, they're not ignoring it, any more than a CIA torturer ignores the suffering of his suspect while they're being waterboarded. They're sure as hell not going to do anything about it, because it is what they want, but they're not ignoring it.

12. I'm a great fan
of persuasion by analogy. You are correct - it looks like they're ignoring it but they know what the deal is. Don't now if they
enjoy it but it really doesn't matter. The results are the sme.

14. You're very welcome. I'd really like more people to read your OP.
I'm always glad to support your posts.

We really need to stop looking solely to electoral politics for help, and build up a movement that goes far beyond partisan advocacy.

20. Well THANK YOU very much!
Wish I were wrong, though, but ya know... it's always something.

There is a road back from this (although I totally respect Krugman's view to the contrary). Too many hard working, smart, loyal
people in this country for there not to be.

23. The Money Party vs. The People Party
Those are the two parties we should really have. Sadly, the vast majority of both parties would fall into The Money Party as things stand today, given our entire system, starting with campaign finance.

:(

35. The entry level requirement "to serve' - $$$$$
Florida had six or seven grass roots progressives run for Congress in 2006, a real collection. It also had a few less converted
former Republicans. Guess who didn't get any money? The progressives. Even if you win the primary, if you're a true progressive
or look like one, they starve you in the general election. One example of a uniform system. Of course, if you get in and
you're a really smart progressive like Kucinich, you are mocked on a regular basis.

32. If you've been paying since the jacked up the tax in the 80's, yes
That was supposed to take care of it and there are huge surpluses today. But Congress steals those every year, leaving us only
a "special Treasury note" (which they claim means something).

AL GORE WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE "LOCK BOX" (and those who mocked him should rot in you know where).

The mortgage relief bill that tanked in 2009 was the tip off. The WH stayed on the bench for that one. Wonder if Geithner
had anything to do with that? (Not)
