2. Should be in theory, but at this point... |
|
It really will end up being either pass that bill, or have the country go into default.
The point of actually wanting and hoping for something good, and seriously fighting anything bad unfortunately passed far too long ago in these "negotiations".
That sucks, don't get me wrong.

3. Well it would leave at least these two options: 1) 14th Amend solution 2) pass a clean bill |

5. Awwwww....how quaint.... |
|
You honestly believe that a president and a Senate that have already pretty much agreed to give Republicans everything they wanted, practically before debate even started, are going to suddenly develop the stones to do either one of those things?
Make no mistake about my positions on this, I would be fine with and love either one of those options much more than the shit sandwich that is going to be served up to us. But at this point since Democrats have already fucked this up beyond belief our options are either eat the shit sandwich that is the Reid bill, or have a big, giant vat of shit forcibly pumped into our stomachs by a default.

is simply to cut the war dept budget by 60% on Tues.
Another is to have the Congress print up 4 one trillion dollar coins and add them to the treasury.
In the end, they will not be allowed to default.

4. I accidently voted Undecided when I meant to vote no. I'm sick of it ALL, The country is pissed |

off at the Republicans for their theatrics. That's been the only real bright side of this so let's NOT give them a reason to be terribly pissed off at us for pulling theatrics as well, because in the end, that's all it would amount to.

we do not exercise power, we have no power. If you want to have as much power as the tea party - you got to take it to the wire.
In the mean time, I don't believe either parties corporate masters will allow a default, therefore they are likely to pass a clean raise-the-limit bill.
In a worse case, we will force Obama to exercise the 14th amendment solution, and next time, he wont play us for fools.
His other options include cutting the war department budget by 60%.

8. The fact that Dennis Kucinich supports it says a lot |
|
There is no way he would vote for such a bill if it were not urgent. I think we would be better off putting aside grievances regarding details until a time when there is not a deadline with extreme consequences.

happened.
What will our recourse be if the new 'cat food dozen' choose to severely cut Social Security.
We will have none.
The bill should not pass.
the bill...
"Establishes Joint Congressional Committee to Find Future Savings. In addition to $2.7 trillion in concrete savings, the Senate package will establish a joint, bipartisan committee, made up of 12 members, to present options for future deficit reduction. The committee’s recommendations will be guaranteed an up-or-down Senate vote, without amendments, by the end of 2011."

10. Since when is "later" finite |
|
Obama needs a strong Democratic congress to do that. DK knows that even if he sponsored as many bills as there is paper to fix it, John Boehner still would not let it come to the floor. Who knew he had a practical side?

PS - I'm watching c-span, the vote is really close.
I think the best outcome, politically, would be for the Rebubs to force Obama to use the 14th amend., which may well happen....

in the (R) controlled chamber instead of in the (D) controlled one.
*edit to add* since the other undecided vote was an accident it looks like I am the only valid undecided vote so far (scary).
