"In a last minute stab at compromise, Republican congressional leaders and the White House made significant progress Saturday toward a deal to avert............"

1. Both parties?
Isn't Obama the leader of the Democratic Party?

2. Reid: 'I'm the Senate majority leader. Why don't I know about this deal?'
Reid: 'I'm the Senate majority leader. Why don't I know about this deal?'

Obama deals directly with the GOP behind Democratic Leadership's back and then uses Biden to whip them into line to go along with it. Same as it was last December. When the heat gets turned up by Democratic congressmen, they Repukes go running to Obama. Much easier to "deal" with.
