Grover Nordquist and George Will applaud the "compromise" Budget Deal
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 12:12 PM by Better Believe It
From ABC-TV's "This Week with Christiane Amanpour" July 31, 2011

George Will: "It is a win!"

Grover Nordquist: "It doesn't have a tax increase in it. It appears to have real spending restraint with mechanisms to enforce it. It moves in the right direction. Would I like to see more spending reductions? Absolutely."

-------------------------

The reported deal on the debt ceiling is so completely one-sided -- brutal domestic cuts with no tax increases on the rich and the likelihood of serious entitlement cuts in six months with a "Super Congressional" deficit commission -- that even Howard Kurtz was able to observe: "If there are $3 trillion in cuts and no tax hikes, Obama will have to explain how it is that the Republicans got 98 pct. of what they wanted," while Grover Norquist, the Right of the Right on such matters, happily proclaimed: "Sounds like a budget deal with real savings and no tax hikes is a go."

11. It shouldn't. Big Money really didn't want a collapse. George Will's allegiance
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 12:08 PM by TwilightGardener
is primarily to money and business interests, more than Republican/Teabag ideology.

9. Whew! We avoided a depression by not defaulting!
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 12:06 PM by IndianaJoe
And we agreed to a depression by agreeing to their spending cuts.

It's a win-win for America! Grover and George sure have their finger on the pulse of the Nation.

Hope they'll put something in the Grand Compromise that'll let us spend a little for the upcoming soup kitchens.

18. You won't be able to see anything substansive
because the "Super Commission" hasn't even been formed yet to decide what to do. I'm sure their meetings will be held in absolute secret, and even when their decisions are ready, Congress won't have 24 hours to read them.

It's pretty much like you telling your landlord that you'll pay the rent this month on the 20th, rather than the 5th, as soon as you've decided whether you're going to not make your car payment, or not buy groceries for the month at that time.
