Jennifer Shilling HQ D-WI Burned to the ground
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 12:12 PM by Aerows
running against Dan Kapanke. I don't live in Wisconsin, but this hits me hard.

Two weeks away from the recall election, his closest running opponent gets her office burned to the ground.

We need to WAKE UP.

These people are playing for keeps and think they have the money and power to make us peons. ALL of us that aren't super-Billionaires.

9. What will it take to wake Americans up. As someone said recently, only in
America could you find millions of people willing to join, politic, demonstrate and vote in their own worst interests as shills for those planning to completely ruin their lives and future. It's peculiarly American to work to destroy your own country. Amazing. The stupid and ignorance runs soooo deep it's hard to even comprehend.

28. One thing though...
...the stupid and ignorance has been carefully cultivated by the dark forces in our country who have knowingly polluted the dialog with lie after lie after lie. The people, in other words, have been propagandized by the most effective means ever devised. Therefore we should not knee-jerk hate these people but at least understand that they are victims too, however misguided.

I know it sounds stupid. I'm not suggesting we do not oppose their policies, I'm not suggesting we do not argue with them. I am suggesting that we do not start from a place of utter contempt, for that can never lead us out of this mess. Furthermore, many of the people on the other side, like many of us, sense that things are not right at a very fundamental level. Plenty of people of all political stripes are amazed at how dysfunctional our government is right now, and are afraid of what the current economic policies will bring us.

I'm sure most of us know or have known people whose politics we disagree with, but who otherwise seem to be kind and loving people. We need to connect at that level, when we can, or there will be no hope of turning things around.

33. Good points! We also need to bypass this MSM monster propagandizing the US. I don't
know how that will come about, but it feeds distortions, lies and misinformation as we all know and is destroying the country by turning people against their own best interests. I've taken to listening to RT and AJZ as they do a far more fair job of reporting than most ot the American MSM IMO.

34. I only see RT and AJZ online ...
... usually either 3 to 5 minutes snippets, sometimes up to 30 minutes or so. I don't watch their TV programming in other words, so can't really comment on whether they are better or worse in general than our MSM. But they certainly have become valuable sources of information and other viewpoints for me.

35. I use Roku on the main TV to access the streaming broadcasts
http://roku.com

but generally I listen to the snippets as you mentioned because they're focused on topics I was to see. I also listen to Max Keiser on RT. I don't know a lot about him, but he certainly has IMO some revealing viewpoints about what is going on in the US.

Fire destroys Democratic recall group's headquarters

A fire in downtown La Crosse on Saturday destroyed local headquarters for We Are Wisconsin, a Democratic organizing group, in addition to some apartments. No injuries were reported. A cause hasn't been identified, fire officials said.

Firefighters began battling the blaze about 9:30 a.m. We Are Wisconsin staff were inside when the fire broke out and escaped safely, group spokeswoman Kelly Steele said.

Peggy Hatfield and Cathy Dunaway of Madison noticed the blaze while getting coffee near the building about 10 a.m.

"You could see smoke coming out of the top of the building," Hatfield said.

22. Just to clarify
We Are Wisconsin is an organization of unions and others that is working on behalf of the Democrats in the recall elections. Because of campaign finance laws, it cannot coordinate with the candidates' campaigns, but it does the same kind of GOTV work.

17. I'm glad, too
Look - I live in the South. We don't frequently have fires; we have floods, hurricanes and tornados.

I worry about you and your politicians, because you are in a battle between working people and those that have never done so in their lives. You also have the courage to stand up and say no. You give Democrats and the working/middle class courage.

I can't help it. I love Wisconsin (well, and cheese, too) :)

With all of the insanity in Washington these past and upcoming, we Wisconsin Democrats are in a very unique position of NEEDING to stay focused on the local, the here, and the now. And we need to pull together like never before. It matters.

I love the quote in your signature. I'm a lesbian, and if being gay was a choice, I wouldn't be. But since I am, I embrace it. I've known I was gay since I was 13. And I'm probably the most femme looking lesbian you will ever meet LOL.

18. well.... the fire dept has`t ruled on what caused the fire.
until the fire dept rules on the fire then everything is just speculation. since other people were involved in this fire there will be insurance companies investigating.

15. I may have mispoken
I'm not from Wisconsin, but have been following the politics there quite a bit.

I apologize if I misrepresented anything, but it said her HQ needed help, so I repeated it.

The fact is real, however, that one of her offices burned.

27. I saw this after I saw the earlier article and thought we had a rw arsonist squad...
if in fact there were two separate fires being started like this, which would no longer have been just a "random event".

I'm actually glad that it was the same fire. If it was a separate fire, I think an all out street war wouldn't be too far off if the Rethugs were resorting to mass arson against us.
