Example of why the fringe right is effective |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 12:03 PM by MannyGoldstein
I'm listening to NPR's "On Point" now, discussion around political threat speech. Part way through the program, Rightist Mona Charen joined. Was she apologetic? Did she try to soften things?
Nope.
Charen came out swinging, rattling off things done by the Left that were the "equivalents" of what the Right is doing (of course they really weren't equivalents), and going after the Left for trying to score political points from something that both sides are doing. She put the other guests on the defensive, and they had a tough time fighting back (although they tried).
Karl Rove is correct - politics is won on the offensive, not the defensive. And we never win by appeasement. Never, ever.

4. Every rightie is doing that same thing. An "R" guest on KPOJ |
|
was arguing how Mike Malloy is just a radical on the left as Anne Coulter is on the right. The hosts did a pretty good job of arguing that although Mike is pretty ffar out there, he NEVER called for bullets or guns, and he was right. I know Mike never calls for shooting or second amendment remedies like the nuts on the rt do.

5. When Democrats allow Republicans to define Democrats, the terms & parameters of the debate |
|
they put themselves on the defensive. Democrats need to take control of the message, yes, to be on the offense and take it to the Republicans.
