Couple of hours ago,
Jansing had a lady Republican Rep. on named Hogel (sp), just recently elected, and she said that she had 6000 calls yesterday, that she lives in a very Republican area, and the calls were all about protecting the recipients of medicare & SS, and, the thing that surpised me was that these same callers want the rich to pay their fair share of taxes, so a raise is requested by them.

She said there were many Republicanss feeling that way about medicare and SS and may not vote for the bill..and she praised the House Democratic leadership - that would be Pelosi. Wouldn't Boner be pleased! :)

Now, if they don't vote - won't the President have to use the 14 to raise the debt limit.

Wish that would all happen...

Any experts wanna spoil my dreams?

the Buffalo NY area. I saw that segment - she was saying that her Republican district was asking her to protect SS and Medicare and raise taxes on the wealthy.

ETA: Her name is Kathleen Hochul.

2. Republicans need SS and Medicare also.
Here was a real chance to switch over some Republicans to Democrats.

This is what happens when you don't fight for what is right.

People back home do notice how you vote.

3. Exactly. And this was a case in point - a traditional R district
that went to a Dem because she promised to fight against the Ryan plan and protect Medicare and SS.

6. You're probably right
Chris introduced her as coming from a Republican District, and she affirmed that her district was heavily Republican, and that the calls were from Republicans...

I just assumed...but I didn't get her name right, hokel or hogel, now it's coming to me, she replaced somebody?

7. She replaced Chris Lee, the R who resigned because of the shirtless
photo on Craig's List.

Her name is Kathleen Hochul.

4. 6000 calls in 24 hours...
works out to be a little less than 15 seconds a call.

11. You may be right. I used to be an "0" operator
and I took about 1000 calls a day working at top speed.
