Rep Grijalva: "deal trades peoples' livelihoods for votes of a few unappeasable right wing radicals"
Reuters) - Representative Raul Grijalva, who heads a group of liberal Democrats in the House of Representatives, said on Sunday that he would not back an emerging debt-ceiling deal crafted by Republican and Democratic leaders.

"This deal trades peoples' livelihoods for the votes of a few unappeasable right-wing radicals, and I will not support it," Grijalva said in a statement. Grijalva heads the 74-member Congressional Progressive Caucus.

1. I hope Rep Grijalva and other progressives vote against this bill. Let the TeaParty plan DIE
It is not fair, it is not balanced, it is NOT shared sacrifice.

Let it die

Put forth a single page debt ceiling increase bill.

2. Serious question: Which 'deal' were these comments about,
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 06:27 PM by elleng
and when did he make them? At this point these details are important, imo, and its kind of foolish to keep reacting to what I'll call rumors. Various caucuses only received 'deal' very recently, so all the 'talk' is speculation.

This Grijalva thumbs down was posted at DU at 3:47 this afternoon.

'New' deal to be presented by Reid to his caucus after 5:30 this afternoon.
