Instead of "toning down", how about just OWNING up?
I'm sure that most dems would gladly step up & admit to using terms like "fight them", "beat them", "knock it out of the park", "aiming for a win", etc.
We will not have to own up to :

TRAITOR
KILL HIM
YOU LIE
LOCK & LOAD
RELOAD
ARMED & DANGEROUS
TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK


We will not have to own up to calling republicans unpatriotic or not
being real Americans..

We will not have to own up to stomping on heads

We will not have to own up to "storming the gates" to demand that votes not be counted...or that a town hall meeting be stopped

We won't have to own up to strapping on guns to go to a political event or to carrying incendiary signs
