MSNBC and even Faux news devote wall-to-wall coverage to Tuscon tragedy while CNN talks about snow
Ludicrous. MSNBC/FNC are providing wall-to-wall coverage of this tragedy while CNN talks about where it is snowing at and ignores this massive event.

No wonder they are LAST PLACE!! They should just shut down.

1. There isn't really much new news about the Tucson shooting
At some point there must be recognition of the world beyond that tragedy no matter how terrible it is.

2. so true...
I don't want to see about the shooting 24/7 esp. when there are no new details. CNN gets my thanks for that.

4. Snow is relevant only to the place it is snowing at
Whereas this tragedy has implications for the 112th as well as 2012 presidential election and that has far more effect on people's lives than a 1 day snow storm.

A few million on any given day.

13. And this snow is affecting the south and east again

In perspective the shooting was in one congressional district in one city. The only reason it is receiving such extensive coverage is a member of Congress was shot, the heated rhetoric, and the tragic death of the little girl born on 9-11-2001.

If it was just 6 ordinary citizens killed and several wounded at a shopping center it would've got coverage as it broke and then maybe a few minutes in each hour's newscast for 2-3 days.

14. These are just my opinions but

Nothing good comes out of watching the same thing over and over. Its whats wrong we focus on one thing in this country and make it bigger than it actually is. Then we forget about it and move on to the next. I do feel sad for the families that were actually affected by this directly. However, this shooting has nothing to do the 2012 election and I will not make this into some election issue and neither should no one else.

The tragedy in Arizona shows that security needs to be beef up for congress members so they can be safe. It shows that mental health in this country needs to be look at because regardless of his political affiliation, it was one guy that has mental health problems who shoot those people. He is no different than the killers that say God influence me. The events over the weekend shows that we need a better way to report deeply disturbed individuals so they can get the help they need. And to say that the shooting outweighs the livelihood of the entire Southeastern and Eastern United states is just wrong.

3. I think it might be because CNN is based here in Atlanta and we are entirely shut down as a city. nt

5. I can't imagine anything more that could be said about the shooting, but...
the blizzard bearing down on us is of more immediate concern.

Having most of the East Coast tied down under some nasty weather, with the concurrent problems of planes, trains, and roads being shut down and resulting nationwide distribution problems IS newsworthy, and far more important to many than incessantly rehashing the shooting.

6. MSNBC
might be trying to regain some relevance. Once the story slipped out of crisis mode, MSNBC reverted to its prison programming for the rest of the weekend. Yuck.

7. And while MSNBC was running its weekend jail shows wall to wall this weekend
CNN was actually providing wall to wall coverage of this tragedy.

The snow storm is a big deal to many people, including myself. My wife is traveling/flying tomorrow, and this storm could very well make hash out of her travel plans.

10. +1 - Amazing that MSNBC broke in to the prisons shows
for as long as they did. Yes CNN did provide excellent coverage. I tuned in from time to time for Dr Sanjay Gupta's analysis on the prognosis & explanations of Gifford's brain injury.

20. At the very least, MSNBC should rerun their Mon-Fri primetime shows during the weekend
I would prefer they have live coverage of course, but reruns of Olbermann, Maddow, etc would be far better than the prison crap.

8. Isn't 2 networks covering the shooting enough for you?
The snow is news too and may cause as many deaths as the shooter.

And I worry the excessive coverage will fuel the next whacko who wants to be in the 24/7 news.

9. CNN had a ton of coverage yesterday, while MSNBC
was showing some of their true-crime crapola.

I'm not defending CNN on everything, but where was MSNBC yesterday, a day closer to the actual event? Running back to back to back of their backyard murder and "Lockup" stuff.

I like MSNBC and wish they would stop showing that stuff.

12. +1 MSNBC needs to dump that crap over the weekends
If they even want to be seriously considered a news & politcal media source.

26. After a point, there is nothing left to say unless something new breaks.
The weather, however, has the potential to affect millions and deserves some coverage.

Wall-to-wall coverage, when it's just regurgitating news that's been reported since Saturday, is pointless.
