Either by his own hand or maybe by that of the police, from what I have read online so far. But that scenario never happened, possibly because he either chickened out or did not have enough time to reload and then try to end his own life, since he was taken down by very heroic (and brave) bystanders. So now the most important questions that remain are whether or not Jared will ultimately receive the death sentence, or be found guilty but insane, or even perhaps found not guilty due to insanity. Also it has obviously not been substantiated yet, beyond any doubt (other than rumors and innuendo)that there is or will be any solid evidence (home computer, future court testimony from those who knew him) that Loughner was either left or right-leaning, or maybe both or possibly neither.

Will he even be declared competent enough to stand trial, after he is examined and questioned by psychiatrist(s)? Other than stating loudly that he (supposedly) understood what the charges were against him in court, it has previously been reported that he has not said anything else at all since he was arrested.

We obviously will have to await reading and hearing about the court proceedings in Loughner's trial, because at this point Jared appears to represent in living, breathing human form, the worst possible nightmare combination of a domestic terrorist, in effect, a murdering psychopathic monster created from a horrific blend of the absolute worst in every political, religious, and athiest ideologies that exist here in the US...IMO.
