Pima County Dem Chair: Time Will Prove Loughner To Be A Right-Winger
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 07:23 PM by RamboLiberal
Conservatives gloating about the biography of the suspected shooter of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) will eat their words in the end, according to the chair of the Pima County Democratic Party.

"Here's what I think you're going to find," Jeff Rogers told me in an interview today. "I think you're going to find that he was (a conservative)."

-----

Rogers, a defense attorney in town and a man with long connections to the city he calls "the Berkeley of Arizona," said that he's convinced people who immediately connected the shooting to the violent right-wing rhetoric of the past two years in Arizona have the right idea. He's convinced that once more is known about Loughner, a connection to the right will be found.

"I think we'll find a treasure trove of stuff from his computer," he told me. "How much of that we're going to get from law enforcement and know about and when? I don't know. But I'm betting you'll see a fair amount of that."

Rogers told me he's closely read Loughner's available internet postings and said that they suggest a rightward slant.

-----

"Look at those books that he said he read and you tell me if you believe that he ever read any one of them," he said. "I mean, those books are fucking hard. They're not high school reading material -- those books are graduate student reading material."

1. Funny, I told a conservative yesterday exactly that.
That she would soon have to 'eat her words' particularly repeating the nonsense of him being a 'liberal'.

anti-Bush/War, atheist, conspiracy theory lovin' independent that didn't vote for the TeaBagger in November conservative, lol. Oh and a paranoid schizophrenic, too.

Oh and I forgot he posts about alien zombies, denies the existence of space exploration because rocket fuel is absorbed by a vacuum and cites the Geneva convention as to why all nations must employ or sustain citizens.

That'd be one hell of a libertarian. But again, there's that whole paranoid schizophrenic thing, too.

3. The sheriff knows the truth
Evidently, Loughner is refusing to talk after being Mirandized. In other words, he knew enough to demand a lawyer, which means (IMHO) he's going to have a good time attempting to claim any kind of insanity defense. I'm willing to bet that law enforcement in Arizona is already well aware of Mr. Loughner's political leanings, as well as a host of other things that aren't being reported right now, such as how someone with significant mental illness managed to legally purchase a firearm and a large amount of ammunition.

The right wing wouldn't have the Wurlitzer cranked up to the tenth power right now if there was no "there" there. In other words, they're trying to get their spin on the story. It won't work. I'm with the Dem chairman: Loughner will be found to be not just a right-winger, but one with beliefs sufficient to horrify anyone who votes to the left of Reagan.
