Rush Limbaugh is a Circus Geek – He Bites the Heads Off Chickens….

Metaphorical Speaking (I hope).

He and his ilk’s sole purpose in life is to move the extreme of what passes for Policy Debate in this country so far to the Right that pro-corporate policies seem “Moderate’.

For example, during the Health Care debate, the more that anything resembling a public alternative to our current the private insurance system was stripped from the bill, the more shrill the cries of ObamaCare and Socialized Medicine from the Limbaughs, Becks and Palins. I guarantee you that no one who lives in a nation with nationalized healthcare would describe the insurance reform that passed as “Socialized Medicine”.

For all this Limbaugh et al are paid extremely well. And I guess that if Rush wants to load up on Oxycotin or pack his suitcase full of Viagra and head off to the Dominican Republic, well, no one can stop him.

I would hope that most see all this clearly. Unfortunately, it’s clear that many do not. And a tiny percentage of those will, from time-to-time will act out violently in order to save us all from the imagined threats that Limbaugh conjures. And at these times, Limbaugh et al present themselves as the wounded victims of slander. Please. I think that everyone can at least see through that.

1. I like your metaphor, but I see it slightly differently. I think his sole purpose in life

is to say things that make a lot of people (including me) absolutely cringe and fume with outrage and fury. In order to keep doing this, he has to keep saying more and more outrageous things. This is how he makes money. I honestly don't think he cares at all about what effect he's having on "what passes for Policy Debate in this country." He simply is making money, and doing that very well.

To my mind, that makes him infinitely more evil. He really does not care what happens, outside of his own money and fame.
