Julia Gillard makes full resource of Australian Defence Force available to
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 10:42 PM by tabatha
MILITARY search and rescue missions are now underway across southeast Queensland.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has just made the full resource of the Australian Defence Force available to the state.

Speaking from Canberra, Ms Gillard told Australians to "brace ourselves for the likelihood of further bad news".

"There are people who are very frightened, people who are desperately awaiting the news of loved ones," she said.

"The thoughts and sympathies of the nation are with you.

"I understand the past few days have been very harrowing indeed."

The official death toll from the most recent flooding, west of Brisbane, stands at 8.

But that figure is expected to rise today as isolated properties are inspected.

1. Just a simple observation here about how certain people view different leaders.
When Chavez used his position to help flood victims some usual suspects on this site when fullnthroated screech monkey. However, when this countrys leader wants to use all their countrys resources we don't see a single post denouncing their actions.

Funny the way that is.

2. Yep, I noticed that years ago, that everyone sees
things through their own personal filter. It was respect to the reactions I had with different people - I was the same person. So I always thought that a person's opinion was often more of a reflection on them than anything else.
