I want to note something about Colonel Badger and his
very clinical description of what happened. This is a classic of somebody who has gone through a traumatic experience and who was detached through the whole event. Time (the sensation of time) does slow down in a situation like this...

Also realize this is happening in about ten seconds.

Colonel, you will have that movie playing in your mind for the rest of your life, as I am sure you know.

2. Lawrence O'Donnel had him at the end of the show
and he went through the whole think in a detached, clinical, even tone, description of his actions during the Saturday nightmare.

He is a retired US Army Colonel.

I've used that tone and my husband uses that tone... it is cold and clinical.

5. Okay -- thanks. Wasn't sure what you were referring to -- what occurrence he
was talking about. Missed the show, obviously.

I know what you mean - my dad was a surgeon and you could just see the "doctor" veil come over him when needed to protect himself emotionally and get the job done. I somehow inherited that, keep my head in emergencies, very clinical, as you say.

3. The bullet grazing the back of his head did not faze him.
One tough guy in my opinion.

4. In his case, training took over...
that does not make it less heroic...
