Paul Ryan to plant a flag in Iowa...
That sound you just heard was Bill Kristol whooping with joy:

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) made a foray Tuesday into the GOP presidential race, asking for donations to launch ads in Iowa defending his 2012 budget, and Republican presidential candidates' support for it.

Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, sent an email through his political organization, the Prosperity Project, to push back against a campaign led this week in Iowa by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to frame GOP presidential candidates as extremists.

"The DNC is attacking all of the candidates for their support of my Path to Prosperity budget," Ryan wrote in an email. "We have to fight back. With your support, I’m planning on launching a counter-attack to educate Iowa voters about the Path to Prosperity and how it's the only plan currently on the table that saves Medicare" ...

To some, Ryan's email could be read as an effort to boost his own political profile in the state. Some conservative pundits are still beckoning Ryan to reconsider his vow not to run in 2012.

1. I join with the "conservative pundits"
in urging Eddie Munster to throw his hat into the ring for the presidential nomination in 2012.

2. Ah, jeez. THis state is crawling with teabagger cretins.
Rick Perry is going to Waterloo tomorrow to mark territory in Bachmann's "hometown." Mr. Godfather's was in Cedar Rapids today. That Santorum slug keeps crawling around. McCotter??? (who the hell is he?) is coming to Iowa. Romney's name comes up but no sightings.

AND Gov. Braindead and Steve King decided they like gubmint assistance after all and have joined forces to get more FEMA backing for the flood zone in the western part of the state.

We need fumigators here.

11. I think most of the crazies are in King's area.
We don't have many around SE Iowa and I don't run into them around Cedar Rapids. I think they came out when the Tea Party took hold...got enough nerve to speak up. They are quickly losing ground.

10. Rick Perry "to mark territory "? We have a couple cats in the neighborhood
that do the same. Should be interesting.

We're going to have to fumigate the state once this is over. What a crop.

4. "A flag, once planted, cannot grow."
After tonight's recall elections, Ryan's aspirations may need a bit more... reflection. Leave it to Politico to not point that out.

5. Maybe he's beginning to think
that just being re-elected in his own district will be tough. So better go somewhere else.
