2. Joe Scum, Barnacle, Halperin

9. Don't be disappointed when he does as they say. Get read for some serious Jon Stewart False Equival
-ency from Obama.

I would say there is a 99% chance that is the case. To go with the RW Lie Machine Script, he must emasculate his speech of any "political overtones". So he will.

It's as simple as that. Remember his 2004 convention keynote speech?

The RW Lie Machine and it's partner, the Corporate Media, repeatedly delivered basically the same message to Obama prior to his keynote speech (cue Joe Pesci in Casino, warning DeNiro, "Be nice. Be nice. Don't fuck up in here.")

Do you remember how completely and thoroughly Obama obeyed them then? He was so nice and sugary-sweet and nonconfrontational. Just like the Repubs at their convention in NYC.

I just wanted to give you a heads up so you can brace for the shock and pain when it turns out Obama once again obeyed them fully, if not word for word than in essence.

17. You've got no clue, polmaven. I busted my ass for Obama in 2008.
Probably twenty or thrity hours of phone banking the month prior to election. I took off on election day 2008 from work to canvass two towns in PA. Spent 12 hours walking about 10-15 total miles crisscrossing those towns with my Obama doorhangers proudly displayed on my arm.

You know NOTHING of me. What did YOU do on election day 2008? I thought as much.

You need to get more comfortable. Why don't find a sociopathic alpha Republican male and give him your lunch money? It'll help you feel regular and remember who you are.

If only you and Obama were this tough talking to Repugs. No use wishing for things that can never be. Can't grow a spine, you have to be born with one.

Now go find that Republican Alpha and do what you do so well.

political discourse.

20. How's that groveling before people who despise him working?
Oh, I see. THAT good, eh?

How badly do you have to be in denial to bring up a laughable joke of a promise that has had onyl the effect of making Obama look like the gutless (or complicit as in "he's not a Democrat, he just plays one - what's a Black Republican to do - try and with the R nomination?)

Whatever he is, he certainly is accomplishing the mission of finsihing off a Democratic Party that, to my Democratic eyes, doesn't have much real purpose anymore except to keep the sheep thinking that we still have a democracy when it's actually been an Inverted Totalitarianism for quite some time.

But we can never know what's in Obama's heart and mind. Is he actually gutless? Or just a Black Republican who their Corporate Media dangled in front of us because Corporate America needed a new face and a new brand to make our Third-World system and corruption seem like a functional democratic-rewpublic tothe rest of the world?

Who knows? Who cares? No matter what the actual truth we can never know, the result of Obama's actions are just the same.

15. Truth hurts? Apologies for reality. Did I misrepresent 2004?
Did the RW media not repeatedly come out with their "talking points" about how Obama's speech would be ripped unless he stripped out any "incendiary" (read strong and straightforward) language.

Did he not do so in his speech? Here's a copy. Find out a single place where Obama spoke plain truth about the RW in that speech. Please do.

http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/convention2004/barackobama2004dnc.htm

I just reread it and OH BOY is that one toned-down no-confrontational speech! Worse than I remember! What a grotesquerie. Hell, he didn't even mention Bush's NAME EVEN ONCE. He mention the word Republican TWICE and never said "boo" about them. Think I'm making it up? CHECK UP ON ME! Prove me wrong.

And if I didn't misrepresent 2004 what makes you think now will be any different in Obama's bending over backwards to capitulate and appease?

You can stay in denial if you want. I just made my point and BACKED IT UP with Obama's own cowardly puscillanimous words.

16. What we need is a Democratic Leadership that acts like something more than battered wives
Too late for that. A party, ike a person, cannot remain bent over in supplication for too long before the condition becomes permanent.

As it has.

I know the truth hurts. Denial is much more sensible. Remember, like Obama and the Republicans say, it's all the fault of that Left.

Works for them. It'll work for you.

22. Do you really think a memorial service
is the place? I hope he does keep politics out of the speech as it doesn't belong there. This is for the friends and family of those killed and wounded not a campaign speech.

The broadcast/cable media kicks sideways whenever confronted with their shortcomings.

8. Mika is naive...
Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 07:31 AM by Skidmore
she basically is saying that people shouldn't have opinions to express unless they pass through the corporate media for sanctions. I don't think she realizes that is exactly what she is saying. No one's opinion (anonymously expressed or otherwise) is valid unless some pundit puts his/her stamp of approval on it.

Edited to add: The social media would not have nearly the influence it does if the broadcast media would do its job.

12. At times one. At times the other. In the end we are all blessed with one thing.
That THIS time around, at least during their rise, the BushNazis v2.0 can't be as violent as they were in the 20s and 30s in Germany.

I know, I know, a weird thing to say right after one of those RW-inspired violence outbursts takes the lives of 6 liberals and centrists, but ti's still true.

Hell, the way Beck and the others are carrying on, revising history and pretending they said none of what they actually said (don't try to show them the tape, facts and reality don't matter to authoritarian sociopaths), they may be able to reverse some of the dog-whistle effect or at least dog-whistle to their own crazies that their continued succes relies on their being able to pretend they aren't inciting crazies.

My point: As bad as things are and as bad as they are going to be when the Final Stage of RW Transformation are finished, it still isn't nearly as bad as it was when a similar bunch of shameless aggreesive, corrupt, lying authoritarians brought down the Weimar Republic.

7. So they can say "I'm glad he took my advice". We'll hear this same crap all day today from dozens of
reporters and journalists and talk show hosts. They do it before each and every of the President's speeches.

14. You know what's funny
At the beginning of the program they were saying that people should be focusing on the heroes of the tragedy. Now their focus is the President's speech.
It's back to politics. I swear M$Greedia is more PS than the killer.
