A tidbit about how corporations became persons |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-13-11 07:49 AM by TomClash
African-Americans didn't legally and fully become "persons" until 1868, when the 14th Amendment was passed. The legal fiction of corporate personhood wasn't fully enshrined in US law until 1886, when the Supreme Court decided the Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad case. And what primary legal principle did the Supreme Court use to declare that corporations were persons?
The 14th Amendment.
