If you have EVER advocated for secession, you should be disqualified from federal office
Especially one so powerful as the presidency.

The fact that Texas Gov. Rick Perry has even talked about secession should disqualify him for the Presidency. He does realize that he's running for the presidency of the US, not the Confederacy?

This OP goes for Palin as well, even if it was her husband who was a member of a secessionist organization.

4. It ain't right, but it's not treason;
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

5. Has anyone in the media questioned him on this?
Of course that would be a GOTCHA! question. The media folks are too busy stirring up excitement for these clowns to ask tough questions.

19. Oh, keep your hair on.
It usually only comes on when they themselves whine about seceding, and consists of me saying "Please do! Be my guest! I'm tired of funding your lazy ass!"

13. Many members of DU support secession. Do a search on Cascadia.
Others freely admitt to wanting some other states to be seperated from the US - kind of allowing some (mostly southern) to go their own way so you could say they support others who advocate for secession.

Should they be disqualified from office? Should their spouses be disqualified from office?

16. Unfortunately it isn't against the law to be a secessionist
because after the Civil War congress felt that no one would ever be stupid enough to try that again after the long and horrible blood war they had just fought, and unfortunately they underestimated how stupid Americans would truly become.
