Just a question.....which would appeal more to a mentally unstable young man... |
|
....right wing conspiracy theories egged on by the Tea Party, or progressive thought contained on sites like Commondreams.org? It seems that Loughner was a fan of conspiracy theories regarding money combined with talk about the Consitution broadly similar to what Alex Jones spouts. New World Order conspiracies or Noam Chomsky?

2. Anything, virtually anything could be latched onto by such a person |
|
Hinckley latched onto his unrequited love for Jody Foster, the Son of Sam shooter latched onto the "speech" of his neighbor's dog.
Loughner latched onto RW rhetoric (though it is fair to note that the Communist Manifest, among other such liberal literature were among his favorite reading material). Take that rhetoric away, and Loughner would have latched onto something else, which, though changing the target of his rage, would not change the fact that he would have killed.
This incident shouldn't be allowed to be an indictment of the language of the right, but rather the right's assault on mental health and the right's assault on gun control. This man should have never been allowed to purchase a gun.
