The outside world is Left and Right with only one wing dead.
I am not accepting the story coming out of Keith's and Rachel's mouths without question.

It is NOT the time for those of the Left to say, "Can't we all just learn to live together?" Why should Keith apologize for the things that he has said when it has not led to such actions? Why should Rachel be promoting the NY times story about the Virginia Tech massacre being the largest massacre in US history?

What happened to history along the way?

For those of us who remember who the Native Americans were, we see how they were slaughtered and forced into starvation and not allowed to grow into larger populations. They were given birth control, anything just to keep their numbers down. Those of the Right wanted to limit them, steal their lands and resources and then pretend they simply did not exist. They did not die by a handful or a dozen or a hundred. They were killed by the millions over the course of a few centuries.

And those of us who remember the slavers, recall the violence against those of primarily African birth. They fought slavery and many were killed doing so. Others were thrown overboard to die at sea. Others were left on small islands to fend for themselves against the harsh elements. And they were used as slaves in the USA. Murder was a constant reminder. Beatings and hangings. Lynch mobs. And from this, the pride of the South still speaks to us through our federal government where they hold our institution hostage to their Confederacy of Dunces. And those slaves. They did not die by a handful or a dozen. Nor even a hundred. They died by the millions. The blood is from the Right again.

Because of these two genocides on US soil, those population bases never grew to their normal sizes, lest they truly get proportional representation.

And children, for God's sake. Robber barons and other scoundrels worked those kids to death in factories. Children with no future, no hope, just trying to survive in a time when working people had no champion. They too died by the thousands. The blood came from the Right.

Workers tried to organize and in Labor's Untold Story we can read about many massacres of strikers and their death toll will reach over 50,000. But this is not mentioned on Labor Day, except for the fact that it is. On May 1st, Labor Day for many parts of the world, many speeches are given around the world about the brave US workers risked their lives just to have a 40 hour work week. But our media are mute about this, lest they incur retaliation from the Right.

Women historically were often shot to death by jealous husbands or murdering husbands or they were beaten and abused with no consequence. Their death toll is also into the thousands. The philosophy that a woman's "place" is in the home and she should follow her "man" comes from the Right.

So the slaves were "freed" and still suffered. Hooray for freedom. Vote for your rich, old, fat, capitalistic, war mongering white man Republican or your rich, old, fat, capitalistic, war mongering white man Democrat, but vote. That suppression of vote still continues today.

Those who opposed wars were often beaten and jailed. 4 dead in Ohio. See how that murder went unpunished by I. F. Stone. Orangeburg Massacre. Jackson State. Shut up you students or get killed. And the Right thirsted for more blood.

How many gays were beaten to death? Where does that violence come from? Oh. The Right again.

Conservatives conspired to overthrow FDR and what happened to them for conspiring to implement a Nazi government? Oh, right. Nothing! What happened to those Japanese Americans during WWII? Internment camps? Okay what about the German Americans and Italian Americans? Any concentration camps for them? Oh, right, Nothing! Racism is important to maintain the Far Right.

So then the Right allows "former" Nazis to set up the CIA and start attacking the Left. We had a freaking Red Scare. Our WWII ally and we had a freaking Red Scare. Did we have a Nazi scare? How many Leftists were beaten up by greaser morons back in high school?

And what about all those flower children who put a halt to the murder in Indochina when they rallied a nation to stop our killing machine? What happened to them? Oh yeah, let's make sure they get no retirement benefits. Let's get rid of Social Security for them. They did resist the Right. Why should they even get good jobs? Why not punish them forever?

And now the Far Right propaganda machine is after any possible way you can have a penny to your name. Their banks will default on you and still get your money. They will raid your retirement income, steal from your Social Security. You will see your markets flooded with junk so you have to keep buying the same crap over and over. All this will deplete your money and let the grim reaper enter your house. And those who help the rest of the world get rich at the expense of the US will not be called to task. They will not be called traitors to the American economy.

We will be told time and time again about how great we have it here. Just shut up and keep your minimum wage job or job with no pay raise for years. It's worse elsewhere. Or is it? Many moons ago Mr. Honda said words to the effect that when the US requests better emission standards for the vehicles in use, Honda goes out and hires 50 more engineers. GM goes out and hires 50 more lawyers.

So Keith and Rachel, it is much, much worse than you are portraying it. Violence occurs when Republicans stir the cauldron of hatred and the ashes of deception. If they did not do that, they would get annihilated on election days. They would have to stand on legitimate issues. So for them to stay in power the Left must give up its blood periodically. I don't see the opposite happening.

1. Olbermann is not naive
He clearly stated that there is no equivalence between the violent rhetoric on the right and the rhetoric on the right.

He's right to say that every body ought to calm down and tone down the demonizing rhetoric though, I don't understand why that is a bad idea.

2. In theory it's all right. But if ...
the Right continuously gets "away with it"? What lesson is learned there?

If the right does it, then we call them out.
And we can do that without being vitriolic.
