MSNBC Video: Palin "at a crossroads" after AZ shootings
Good luck making it through the David Frum segment, where he says "of course she's not guilty" and encourages her to go out and meet this head-on and show us she's a leader. David, your check is in the mail.

1. I'd like someone to ask her if she regrets supporting Jesse Kelly
since his campaign used this ad to raise money:

when Palin spoke at the Republican convention, she made my skin crawl. Knowing that she was fully supportive of a guy who engaged in this sort of political threat of violence makes me want to wretch.

2. Frum is mostly right though, she had an opportunity and she blew it.
Just be thankful Frum isn't one of her advisors.

5. Well, sometimes people who go into hiding give the impression that they have something to hide
There was really no way to win for Palin on this one.

Hide? It suggests guilt, and at a minimum, weakness.

"Meet it head-on," as Frum and others have suggested? She's simply not that skilled in politics, and no matter how many crib notes she scribbled on her hand in advance, it's a poor second option to doing what she did, which was nothing. In the final analysis, she was at least smart enough to go for the lesser of two evils.

7. Frum is smart enough to know she lacks those skills
and more important the integrity.

3. Doesn't sound like Frum. What was the context?
Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 02:23 PM by emulatorloo
Doesn't sound like Frum because he has been talking about the need to tone down political rhetoric for a while now.

And he certainly isn't a Palin fan.

So what did he mean when he said she should face it head on and show she's a leader?

My prediction knowing Frum would be that he said something along the lines of "take ownership of putting that gunsite graphic out there, and say yes that was out of line and we need to tone this stuff down."

Am I way off?

4. "You can hunker down and say it's not my fault...and of course she's right...
...or you can be bigger than that."

That's essentially what he said, in addition to facing it head on.

His clip was introduced by Andrea Mitchell, who said "at least one Republican sees this as a defining moment for Palin."

So that's the context.

6. Thanks. Sounds like he was being pretty tough on Palin.
It is a defining moment for her.
