F. Lee Bailey: Paper proves OJ Simpson's innocence

By CLARKE CANFIELD
Associated Press
YARMOUTH, Maine (AP) - Evidence of O.J. Simpson's innocence was held back in the 1995 trial in which he was acquitted in the murder of his ex-wife and her friend in Los Angeles, one of his former lawyers says in a new document.

In the 20,000-word document, F. Lee Bailey tells of four people who could have bolstered Simpson's case but never testified. He also gives an overview of the sensational trial from his own perspective.

{snip}

The document might sway a sector of the public into believing in Simpson's innocence in the 1995 case, Bailey said. But he knows there's another group whose minds couldn't be changed "with a sledgehammer," and thinks the trial damaged his reputation among that group.

"Among the rednecks of America, which there are many more than people seem to realize, it was terribly damaging," he said. "I got blamed for O.J.'s acquittal."

1. I still believe that he's guilty. It wasn't proven so we couldn't incarcerate him.

5. He confessed in that stupid book...

Bailey's career went down the shitter after the trial. This couldn't have anything to do with that. Not to mention the timing, and why would they not have used that "evidence" at the civil trial.

12. because they were afraid that if the trial didn't end soon it would
be a mistrial due to lack of jurors.

18. According to the article,
they had 4 witnesses they didn't call. They feared that if the trial lasted much longer, enough jurors would be dismissed and there would be a mistrial.

7. Uh huh. And there are still hundreds of knife-wielding drug dealers
killing people right and left in this country!

What utter bullshit. Simpson is as guilty as sin. And I'm glad he's finally in jail, even if it is for something else. Blood evidence doesn't lie. People do.

9. and Palin's map had 'surveyors' symbols'
yeah, OJ was guilty even of half the evidence was planted. He had a hand in throwing that red meat to the rednecks. But HE got paid and now complains of their wrath he stoked and the reputation he shat on.

13. first do you have a link for that
and secondly Grier worked for Strom Thurmond so I wouldn't necessarily believe him.

14. It was in one of the books that came out after the trial
Grier came to visit OJ every day in jail. 6 months into his stay, one day a guard overheard OJ confessing to Grier. The author claimed he checked the visitor log and the day the guard claimed he overheard the confession was the last day Grier visited OJ, after coming every single day. Sorry I can't remember which book. I read most of them about the murder.

Here is an article where OJ denies the confession.
