Patrick Kennedy is making very good points about mental health on Rachel Maddow

It's about time that people started talking about mental health intervention and the need for better care.

"When we see someone fall on the street, we go over to help them up. When someone seems to have a mental illness, often we turn away."

jfk,rfk,emk's sister rosemary had a lobotomy at 23 and lived in an institution for the rest of her life.

4. Rosemary was diagnosed as developmentally disabled and not
mentally ill. The lobotomy was an experimental attempt to help that situation. It did not work. She lived in a private home owned by the family on the grounds of the institution for the rest of her life.
