'If you liked our ten year recap, you'll love this. Each pie shows the revenue contribution from various formats, 1980-2010, based on RIAA revenue figures. If you want to see it again, just wait a few seconds for the animation to start over.'

1. Great. I kept saying...
...'record' in class for years, and the kids got confused. About a year ago I started to remember to say 'CD'.

3. I taught myself to say 'album,' since that connects to our youth and their digital download world.nt

7. Massive. And pre-recorded cassettes sounded Terrible.
Went straight from LPs to CDs, myself.

I wish I had kept all of our LPs. We have about 300 or so.

9. I suppose it shows the desire for portability - walkmans, car cassette players and boomboxes
and that quality doesn't matter that much to people (which the poor standard of many headphones continues to show).

I started buying LPs just as cassettes overtook them; and gave up and bought a CD player when it became difficult to find new releases on LP (1992?)

11. If you had good equipment, cassettes were fine...
Dolby, high-bias, etc.... only the slow tape speed was their major drawback. Recording studios were using 15x tape for mastering.
