who was that articulate man on Dylan Ratigan Tuesday?
The one who sat quietly while the showboats had their say and then came out with the most insightful and frank comments I've heard on cable recently. He said that the problem is not merely politics causing violence, the problem is HATE.

I didn't catch his name. I didn't think much of the woman who was called a "Democratic Strategist." She kept rolling her eyes and talking about the "big picture."

But this guy had something to say.

Anyone know who he is?

7. guess I'll make some noise about him
an email to the Ratigan show won't hurt, a tweet won't hurt. Maybe a comment to KO and Rachel about using him.

11. yeah, no talking heads recommend teaching kids not to hate.
I might have heard Ronnie Reagan talk about that (he's a Buddhist, I think) but I don't think anyone else has addressed the incidence of hatred.

not liking that it's all just coming down to "crazy" people.

Edit to add: agree that the underlying factor is "hate".

8. I saw him, too, and I agree. He was very well spoken.
He was right on point and nobody seemed to have anything more to say after he spoke. I also thought that the author who wrote about Columbine was quite interesting, had a unique perspective, unusual in the wake of this terrible tragedy.

10. I think it was Jimmy Williams
Dylan Ratigan show 1-11-2011, clip on Regulating the use of guns: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31510813/#41026206

Starting about 1:10, the panel discussion includes Karen Finney (Democratic Strategist), Susan del Percio (Republican Strategist) and Jimmy Williams (Washington Lobbyist).

Mr. Williams' comments that I believe you are reacting to begin at about 6:00.

More on Mr. Williams:
"Jimmy Williams, Icahn Associates LLC. A former staffer to two of Washington’s most powerful Democrats — Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.) and then-Sen. Joe Biden (Del.) — Williams is Icahn’s new one-man Washington office."

16. exactly
He wasn't talking about politics. He was talking about morality.

Actually, he was talking about the attributes that Americans have died for. Equality. Human dignity. Expressed through tolerance, not hate.

He said he grew up in the south and his father hated black people and taught him to do the same. Somewhere along the line, he went a different direction, and this day to tens of thousands of viewers, he stood up for what is right.

:::standing ovation:::

21. Yeah, I have to be careful with lobbyists
They are professional cons. Some people are good, others are 'good at it'.

I don't know this guy but wish I could learn more to see if he's for real.
Cynical? No.

Skeptical? Hell yes!

20. I tried to find contact info for Jimmy Williams -- no luck yet.
I sent a message to Dylan Ratigan thanking him for that segment and hoping that we would see more of Williams.
