You Guys Saw This, Right ??? - "Poll: Liberals Bail on Obama"
Poll: Liberals Bail on Obama

<snip>

Last week, Obama harshly chastised his political base. Now, his base is chastising him. According to a McClatchy-Marist poll released over the weekend, President Obama's approval rating has fallen considerably in the past month among Democrats. Seventy-four percent of registered Democratic voters said they approved of the President's job performance, down from 84% last month, while his disapproval rating among the same group nearly doubled from 11% to 21%.

Among liberals, President Obama's approval rating fell from 78% to 69% as his disapproval rating rose from 14% to 22%. The sharp drop is interesting as the poll was conducted, in part, after the President announced a deal with Republicans to extend all of the Bush tax cuts for another two years. During his 2008 campaign, President Obama repeatedly said he would allow the top tier tax cuts to expire.

President Obama announced the tax deal on December 6, and the poll was conducted December 2-8. In a press conference last Tuesday, Obama called out progressives for having a "sanctimonious" pride in their political positions.

The McClatchy-Marist poll seems to support the findings of a SurveyUSA poll released last week in which a majority of people who gave time or money to Obama's 2008 campaign said they'd be less likely to support his reelection bid if he moved ahead with the tax deal.

6. Scolling down the chart, it is interesting that for liberal Democrats,
the percent is flat over the 4 time periods shown.

Liberal, Moderate Conservative - is not by party.

16. What is weird is that the composite for all Democrats is HIGHER
than each of the three subdivisions - leading me to think that someone made a mistake in calling them all Democrats. It is mathematically impossible - unless there is a fourth group that identify as none of the first 3.

Obama Approval Slipping Among Liberal Democrats

Approval rating among this group dips below 80% for first time
by Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ -- Liberal Democrats remain strong supporters of President Obama, but their approval of the job he is doing has fallen noticeably since the midterm elections. For the first time, it dropped below 80% in the week after the announcement of the tax deal he brokered with congressional Republicans.

<SNIP>

These results are based on weekly averages of Gallup Daily tracking, including interviews with more than 3,000 U.S. adults each week, and approximately 500 interviews with Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents who describe their political views as liberal.

The Gallup data indicate that Obama's support among liberal Democrats was starting to decline even before he reached the tax deal. He averaged 88% approval among this group the last full week before the midterm elections (Oct. 25-31) and 83% the first three full weeks (Nov. 8-28) after his party suffered major losses in those elections, and then dipped below 80% the week after the announcement of the tax deal on Monday, Dec. 6.

14. Given how far right Obama is, there are a lot more people for him to call "liberal"
hell, if Eisenhower were alive, he could call Ike liberal.

15. Not to mention all that People United money.
No point in my contributing. What little I have to give is infinitesimal compared to what General Dynamics, General Motors, Monsanto, the banksters, the health insurance industry, and all his other new friends can do for him.
