Angle, Palin, Beck damage control and future vitriolic statements
Palin attempts a 7/5 min video that goes awry invoking an unfortunate metaphor. Still, the attempt as re-brand is there. http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20110112/pl_politico/47477_1

Angle, references her incendiary 2nd Amendment remedy statements, "Expanding the context of the attack to blame and to infringe upon the people's constitutional liberties is both dangerous and ignorant," Angle said.

During a heated race for a U.S. Senate seat in Nevada, Angle had advocated "Second Amendment remedies." http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2011/01/tea-party-gabrielle-giffords-shooting-fallout-/1

Then there's Beck, with his lame attempt at walking back vitriolic performances and pretending he is the peaceful sort. "But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force."

Yeah, I'd say theres a whitewashing effort going on.

But now I'm thinking. The LEFT have made a big fucking deal of this. It needed to be so. The media is all over it. The hate rhetoric had desensitized so many on the Right, chances are they were oblivious to the additional links of vile they were adding to that ponderous chain.

Do you think their attention to the issue has finally be made? Do you think they will be able to use the same type of violent imagery with impunity for at least the next 2 years? I don't think so.

1. Yes if we allow ourselves to forget, look forward and pretend it doesn't exist.
In other words continue going on with Business As Usual.

Something is happening, the proof is all over the airwaves and internet right now and comes in the form of denials, whitewashing and deflecting focus off of the forest and onto one or two trees. Trees that are now trying to change themselves into victims.

It's classic.

America is notorious for having a short attention span and short of memory.

The noise tells you that we're in the right place. Keep speaking up! I just wish that I'd hear more speaking up from the very obvious silent ones.

2. Interestingly enough
I've been drumming home the thought that "words have meaning", an another site. A site where the freeper types band together and bash anything pregressive or liberal, and generally run them out on a rail. They generally act as a pack to squelch critisim of anything RW.

Well, one has been conspicuously missing for 3 days and another made her exit speech today from the site.

I think there is some serious cognitive dissonance going on. Or perhpas they are just not able to contend with the rampant blitz on the wrongness of hate speech?

3. Beck has made similar statements in the past
He's an odd one. He propogates a world view that America is on the brink of destruction and that vast liberal forces are destroying everything, but he seems pretty aware that any violence would set his cause back. It's an odd sort of reality in the midst of madness.

That said he does more to create a worldview that promotes violence than almost anybody.

4. Since the assassination of John Kennedy, assassinations have done
more to influence the course of American Politics than anything else and each assassination weakened the Democratic influence and strengthened the Republican position.

It takes a long time and a lot of experience to groom a politician to the Presidential level. One gunshot wipes all of that out in a fraction of a second. It is the worst sort of political strategy, Yet, whenever any analysis as to why these things keep happening to Dems, they are met with a chorus of wailing from the right wing. They seem to think that the targets selected, always Dems, was just a matter of another deranged person. Move on, there's nothing to see here.
