CNN: In Wake Of Shooting, It's Important To Stress "A Saving Faith In Jesus"

Wow! What a dumb thing to say...

CNN's Erickson: In Wake Of Attempted Murder Of Jewish Politician, It's Important To Stress "A Saving Faith In Jesus Christ"

January 11, 2011 3:50 pm ET by Jamison Foser

CNN's Erick Erickson is upset with what people aren't saying about the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords:

Through it all though, well meaning people on both sides of the ideological and partisan divide are not talking about the one thing that should be talked about — a saving faith in Jesus Christ.

...

Perhaps Mr. Erickson is hoping for a job offer from Fox News.

Mr. Erickson's comments arrogantly imply that Gabrielle Giffords is on the wrong side of, as Erickson describes it, "the great chasm between the saved and damned." He is basically arguing that Giffords, as a non-Christian, is part of the problem which led to the shooting. It's dog whistle politics akin to claiming that Jews were responsible for the Holocaust.

50. No, the little girl born on 9/11 wasn't Jewish.
She was Catholic and recently had her first communion.

But just going by the name, Gabrielle Gifford's aide who was also killed was Jewish. His name was Gabriel Zimmerman. He was 30 years old and recently engaged to be married.

10. Why not Harold Kushner's "When Bad things Happen to Good People."
This book stresses the importance of not blaming God for things that are caused by the evil world we live in. For instance in this case the world in which the Right Wing has removed the stigma of using guns against people.

19. Check Out the other Statements he has made from Crooks and Liars
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 01:40 PM by Ichingcarpenter
Let's have a look at some of his opinions and agendas he's leading:

About Ted Kennedy: "Today Ted Kennedy plots our deaths..." (h/t The Political Carnival)

About Judge Souter: " is a "goat f*&king child molester"

He thinks Rush Limbaugh is Jesus.

He openly called for armed revolt and beating politicians to a bloody pulp.

He said the media "gang-raped" conservative politicians.

Suggested that the Nobel Committee had an affirmative action quota

Said that "leftists are Nazis" and the Nazis were liberal socialists.

Said that the Alaska Democrats gave out Sarah Palin's SS# (a fact he pulled wholly from his posterior)

Told his readers to send Olympia Snowe rock salt for her work on HCR. (Rock salt melts snow--get it?)

Suggested that Obama was friends with a child molester

Claimed the left has more dominance in the blogosphere because the right are too busy raising the children they didn't abort.

All of these statements have links at Crooks and Liars.

57. A little more from the link
In all the discussions we're having, let's not forget that bad things have happened throughout history, but we are seeing more and more a pattern of violence from those who reject Christ and we are seeing the most extreme rhetoric from those who reject the only real truth while embracing every other historic fad and nonsense as variations of truth. Erickson quote

Erickson is right. Why, just this morning, I came across a quote from a loud-mouthed atheist who denounced former Supreme Court Justice David Souter as a "goat fucking child molester."

No, wait: That was Erick Erickson. And so was this: "At what point do the people tell the politicians to go to hell? At what point do they get off the couch, march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?" And it was Erick Erickson who said he'd pull a shotgun on any government employee who tried to make him fill out the American Community Survey, too.

If Erickson's well-advertised fondness for Christ doesn't stop him from talking about beating people to a pulp, or pulling guns on them, or from referring to public servants as child molesters, or from presuming to know who God is angry with at any given moment, he should at least take a look at what the Bible has to say about hypocrisy before going on about the "extreme rhetoric" of non-believers.
