Wausau Mayor Says City Won't Pay For Labor Day Parade If GOP Isn't Invited To Attend

This guy is a real bastard. I say fuck you Tipple. Go ahead and keep your money. We'll pay for it ourselves you fucking asshole!

Marathon County Labor Council President Randy Radtke confirmed Monday that no Republican lawmakers are welcome to participate in the organization's Labor Day parade -- a departure from procedure in previous years.

"I don't like when politicians try to use us, use our event, for their personal gain," Radtke said. "And that's pretty much what they're doing. The Republican politicians in our area don't side with us, but now they want to make it look like they're on our side."

The decision to bar GOP lawmakers might mean parade organizers will lose financial support typically provided by the city of Wausau.

2. It's worth it to keep the teabaggers out.
Why should a perfectly good, classically American event be ruined by right-wing extremist interlopers? I imagine the Nazi Party isn't welcome either, for the same reason.

3. I say let the Repukes march in the parade. Surround them with signs ...
... that make clear their positions on labor and other non-billionaires.

Might also consider positioning them right after the horses, where they'll best fit.

4. I say let them show.
And every time one of the repukes comes by everyone in the crowd should turn their backs to them.
I'd say moon them but there are kids present.

8. Here's the e-mail I sent:
"Let see if I understand this. Republicans, who spend 24/7 fighting to destroy the rights of workers (labor) want to be present at the Labor Day Parade, and you're going to fight for them because you feel they have a 'right?'

Isn't that just a little bit hypocritical? Somewhat like you fighting for the 'right' of Nazis to attend a Jewish Parade?

Come on, now."

9. Have a fundraiser. Why should the town pay for a parade anyway?

10. Here's another option
Let them march (not that they would march when there are convertibles to be had, but I digress) and give out free tomatoes to the crowd. Perhaps slightly overripe tomatoes.

11. I say invite the Republicans...
And loudly call them on their shit from start to finish. Point them out with fingers and signs and expose them for the scum that they are.

If they want to show up, simply make them as handy a focus of public embarrassment and humiliation as possible.

15. Looks like a win-win for Wausau workers.
1) Let them show and mock them.
or
2) Pay for it without city funds and exclude them.

Bravo Wausau!
Smartly done.

16. Why does the GOP want to be involved in a union-sponsored event anyway?
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 02:05 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
They've spent the greater part of this last year deriding anybody belonging to and/or supporting the unions as "union thugs".

18. I say let them in...
Simply allow the group ahead of the GOP lawmakers carry signs that 'introduce' them with their voting record against working class families...
