How odd that John McCain has been so silent about the tragedy
and causation in his home state. Any other time he's all over the place, in front of a camera, spewing all sorts of nonsense. Does anyone but me think he may be embarrassed that Sarah had so much influence (as far as I'm concerned) on the cause of this tragedy? Is he afraid of the blow back he may receive? After all he was the one who foisted this narcissistic pest on us. Just wondering. John, John, wherever you are, perhaps Arizonians would like to hear from their Senator.

1. Well silence is better than making a fool of yourself
He seems to be doing that a lot lately.

4. He's not all over the media though, like he was for other issues
like DADT.

7. I realize he made a statement but I meant he is usually in front of
a camera every time almost you turn around, opining on all sorts of issues.

19. it was one printed statement, probably written by someone on his staff
As far as I know, McCain has made no personal statement on this Arizona tradegy in the form of an actual appearance and as the original poster correctly indicated...in any other circumstance, McCain the Maverich would be straight-talking on every major network plus 2.

Eerie silence instead.

3. McCain Cutting Short Congressional Trip To Attend Arizona Memorial Service
Sen. John McCain is cutting short a Congressional trip to Latin America to return to his home state of Arizona for Wednesday’s memorial service for the victims of last weekend’s Tucson shooting.

McCain and his wife Cindy will both attend the memorial service, according to the senator’s spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan.

McCain left last Friday with Sen. John Barrasso on a week-long trip to Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Panama and Mexico, but now McCain will head home early to attend the service at the University of Arizona.

Hours after Saturday’s attack that left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-AZ, fighting for her life, killed six including federal judge John Roll, and left over a dozen others injured, McCain issued a scathing statement calling the attacker “a disgrace to Arizona, this country, and the human race.”

“Whoever did this, whatever their reason, they are a disgrace to Arizona, this country and the human race, and they deserve and will receive the contempt of all decent people and the strongest punishment of the law,” McCain said.

5. He hasn't been able to figure out how to blame the end of "DADT" for it, yet.
And he has all those kids to keep chasing off of his lawn.

14. I think McCain is trying to figure what way to play it to his advantage. He has no
morals. He is an opportunist. He probably is wondering whether
it is smarter to defend Sarah or speak out against.

15. Smart on his part to distance himself from Grifterella.
Maybe he does rue the day she was chosen to be his running mate. And I doubt he chose her.

18. McCain is fading fast. He speaks haltingly these days.
I believe his days as a leader are numbered. He may be ill or he may just be old and tired, but he no longer has any force to him.

Don't expect McCain to play much of a role in anything from now on. He's just about done.
