With All Due Respect: I Disagree It Is Possible to Underestimate Sarah Palin
This notion that she is secretly brilliant defies the evidence we have seen for years.

Look at what happened over the last week: She still is not aware that you can't "remove" things from a website, and in two successive incidents, attempted to scrub things that she had posted and which millions of people captured and cached.

Second, listen to her use and abuse of the English language. Either she has no speech-writers, or she has dumped her PR advisers and is relying on family members to give her advice that is not worth following. Where and who are her speechwriters? Did she let them go because she could do better just "speaking from the heart"? Look a the result this morning.

Lastly, who does she believe she is appealing to? If Palin were intelligent, she would have viewed today as an opportunity to regain rather than sabotage her credibility.

Am I wrong? I'm open to being convinced that I'm "naive", "gullible" and underestimating Sarah Palin. And I am well aware there are smart Republicans who strategize and have brilliant advisers--I simply disagree that Sarah Palin is one of them. After her massive self-obliteration today, I have many concerns and worries, but Sarah Palin is not one of them.

Sorry for the rant, but I am sick of people saying Sarah Palin is brilliant. It ain't so.

2. The more Sarah speaks, the more guilty that she appears, IMO.
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 03:47 PM by Urban Prairie
Eventually the seemingly bottomless pit Sarah keeps digging herself into will become so deep that she will have seawater from the Indian Ocean gushing out of her house.

I say, keep on railin' Palin!!

3. I agree. If she is still being advised by her high school friends
she has no idea what it takes to be credible. Her timing with this video is disgusting and she deserves every bit of criticism coming her way regarding what she said. She is not brilliant. She is not even smart enough to know that.

8. Although I see what you are saying I doubt the fact that she is still relevant is by accident
This women hasn't accomplished a single significant thing in her life. Yet everyday people talk about her and she cashes in on that big time. I don't think you could do that if you didn't know what you were doing.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the fact people still take her seriously is an accident.

11. A knowledgeable intelligent person would have CYA'd on that cross-hairs graphic by employingstandard
professional graphic designer processes for vetting such things for red-flags that could add up to legal issues. What's up with that?

If she has an attorney, I'd be working him/her over with a fine-toothed comb, if I were her.

12. she has no chance
Her supporters are loud but they don't equate to large voting numbers. What can she do, run as an independent? She still couldn't win. Run as a republican? Would republican insiders support her, really? Her handlers had trouble with her when she was running with McCain. Besides that, she's a quitter.

If she had made a video showing remorse for those who got shot and acted as a caring compassionate leader, I'd be a little bit afraid. She could have used the opportunity to platform her status by acting like a leader people really need instead of going on the defense like a guilty child seeking attention.

22. I don't think she's brilliant, but I do think she is dangerous.
My feelings speak less about her than about her admirers. Living in Georgia has opened my eyes to the pride so many feel in their own ignorance. Certainly I am not speaking of all southerners, but I can speak of the majority that I live near and interact with daily.

24. palin is a useful idiot of a figurehead (think ol' ronnie reagan)
who can lead around another bunch of useful idiots using her "sex appeal" and the limited knowledge and ignorance of her cult followers.

There is currently in the US, somewhere between 24 and 27% of the polled population who have religiously supported the most extreme of the neo-con moves, legislature, and/or figureheads/leaders. shrub routinely had their support; I believe that's about the same percentage who believe that global warming is a myth and that evolution is a theory. If that is the same 24 - 27%, that is a significant minority.

If you take into account that for 40 or so years the leadership of these idiots has been priming them to follow unquestionably, that significant minority is telling. Add in the use of "religion," and you have a mindless group of people willing to ask "how high" when told to jump.

"Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions."
Jerry Falwell

If Christian people work together, they can succeed during this decade in winning back control of the institutions that have been taken from them over the past 70 years. Expect confrontations that will be not only unpleasant but at times physically bloody.... This decade will not be for the faint of heart, but the resolute. Institutions will be plunged into wrenching change. We will be living through one of the most tumultuous periods of human history. When it is over, I am convinced God's people will emerge victorious.
-- Pat Robertson, Pat Robertson's Perspective Oct-Nov 1992

We at the Christian Coalition are raising an army who cares. We are training people to be effective -- to be elected to school boards, to city councils, to state legislatures, and to key positions in political parties.... By the end of this decade, if we work and give and organize and train, THE CHRISTIAN COALITION WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL POLITICAL ORGANIZATION IN AMERICA
-- Pat Robertson, in a fundraising letter, July 4, 1991

The moral majority became the christian coalition. The christian coalition has found a home in the tea party. Watch the names of their leaders. Watch the ties.

palin is their latest useful idiot to "lead" their useful idiots.

The question I keep asking is, where are they being led? For what purpose? Who benefits?

But how? Money? Power over others? Shaping the US in their own perverted image?

They're aiming (used advisedly) for a specific goal. I'm trying to get to the goal.

30. She's not brilliant, but she knows damned well what she's doing. She's playing to her base
She has an extremely fanatical base, who absolutely love what I refer to her "aw shucks" demeanor. Whenever she puts her foot in her mouth, which is rather often, her followers simply circle the wagons. They take any criticism of her personally, as if you were attacking them.
