I haven't posted on this site in nearly two months

Frankly, it got so tiring seeing all the anti-Obama posts continuously here.... The barbarians were not only at the gate, but they had broken through on election night.... and we were STILL in here shooting arrows at each other instead of them.

But in the meantime... the extremely successful lameduck session occurred... and now the tragedy in Arizona. And it appears, for the most part, that Democrats are coming together again and realizing who the true enemy is.

Gallup shows Obama ticking upward, almost at 50% approval. Other polls already show him above that mark. The jobs outlook continues to brighten, and Obama has found his mojo again.

America seems to be saying... "You know what... I kinda like the calm black man in the White House compared to the reactionary crazies on the other side."

Tonight's speech will do for him what the Oklahoma City speech in 1995 did for Bubba.

Obama's approval ratings won't go below 50% again during his Presidency.

He will confound the GOP during the 2012 election and will win fairly easily.

And their only tool against him will be the same one they used against Clinton.... they'll try to find any way they possibly can to impeach him.

But they'll fail.

Because Barack Obama has almost all of Bill Clinton's gifts.... but he doesn't have the liability of infidelity. He is Bill Clinton 2.0... the version without the out-of-control libido.

I know none of you missed me.... but I've missed some of you.

it's somehow comforting to think of his calm during all this "crazy". Thank you for this.

9. Welcome back, and ...
I like how you think.

Perhaps the two months you took off made it easier for you to see the larger picture more clearly and easily.

Recommended.

14. All good points - that fit with what I was thinking earlier today
President Obama is not a GWB or a Sarah Palin. If Shrub were still in office and some left associated nut job committed violence against a Republican, he would have raised the level of antagonism between the two sides. Palin, well we see her reaction, trying to claim victimhood despite being the principle agitator.

Our President on the other hand has kept the acrimony against the right wing nut jobs to a minimum. In fact, his administration has been harder on their own side than on their opponents. The few times he has been critical of the right, it has been easy for the pundits to point out how even tempered Mr. Obama has been with all the garbage being spewed from the right.

I wonder how much of his perceived "weakness" is from the knowledge that being strong or assertive was the wrong tactic to take at the time, that bluster and threats would have made circumstances worse rather than achieve any of his goals.

Just think how bad the atmosphere in this country would be if the President had been the "angry black man" the right has been trying to evoke from him. If he had lambasted the Republicans and their minions of the Tea Party for their idiocy. The furor on both sides would have escalated and this country would be even more split than it is now.

Mr. Obama is better than that. Better than most of us.

Thank you, President Obama.
