People, it's called the separation of powers |
|
Google and the Constitution are your friends. Use them, please.

but this is DU...facts, the Constitution, and anything else that is based in reality is not part of our discussions...we are heavy into hyperspeculation, take that speculation as fact and then bash Obama as much as we can. So take your US Constitution and get out of here :-(

I can separate the wheat from the chaff. People are entitled to whatever opinions they have or want to have based upon whatever set of "facts" they choose to accept. This is a discussion/opinion board and nothing more than that and frankly I disagree with your assessment of the opinions expressed here.

3. Probably why Pres Obama can not force The House to let him speak whenever he wishes to. |
|
The House has to vote on a joint session resolution in order to allow Obama come to The House to speak.
So, this whole situation is NOT Obama's fault - it's the fault of The GOP.

5. Frankly, it has nothing to do with "forcing" congress to do anything... |
|
if Obama wanted to talk on the 7th, all he needs to do is contact the networks. He could still speak on the 7th. Maybe not with everyone in attendance, but what is new about that?
He had an opportunity and allowed the repukes to dictate terms.
It's really that simple.

7. Except for the fact that he wouldn't be addressing Congress that way |
|
He'd be addressing the country. Not that that's a bad thing, but it serves a different purpose.

8. at this point in the game, talking to congress is nothing more than preaching to the chorus... |
|
as I have said before, Obama should have taken this fight to the people and paint it in glaring terms that can't be denied, but alas...

6. how many times has any Prez asked and been denied by Congress? |
|
it's called respect for the office, and they have none for him and Obama's presiding like a scared puppy. He plays from a position of weakness and projects submission. He repeatedly gives them 98% of what they want and they know this. Had he been strong at any point in the past, they'd be more apt to play ball, but since he'll cave, they'll force him to do so every time.
