Could Sarah extricate herself from this political pit? |
|
I think she could, if first of all, she would stop digging.
Issue an apology for the intemperate gun imagery and language and acknowledge that it may have contributed to an uncivil public discourse.
Then focus on the victims. Talk about the tragedy of life lost and lives devastated and the need for better ways to prevent such tragedies, including how we might identify and treat disturbed people and yes, keep guns and ammunition out of the hands of disturbed people.
Then shut up.
If she did all that she might convince some that she is after all, a serious person who can make a useful contribution.
I don't expect any of this to happen in a hundred years. But I would be pleased to be surprised and would be the first to applaud.

6. Not saying she would ever be a viable presidential candidate. |
|
But I don't think that was ever in the cards anyway.

It began in earnest with Bush.
If you are republican you can NEVER admit a mistake....its a sign of weakness. You see it every day in the media.

10. She doesn't want to -- she's a pit bull |
|
and will fight to the death to suck up all air time for HER and her wallet.
The pit people who love her will go down fighting -- after they have emptied their bank balances to give to her. All about attention and money.

13. She seems incapable of apologizing, focusing on anyone else but her, and shutting up. |
|
So I don't think you'll have to worry about applauding.

14. Who says she's in a pit? |
|
Her comments just solidified her positiin with her base, and the low information "independents" won't care come primary time.
Plus, American voters have very short memories.

16. She has "teflon" only to her (narrow) base - for a large part of the population she has velcro. |
|
Everything sticks. So yes, she is in a "pit".

17. She can't, her supporters would never allow it. |
|
For reasons we can't comprehend, her supporters love this personality of hers where she can say and do whatever she likes, it's a take no prisoners attitude. Her supporters like that she's rude and insensitive because that gives THEM license to be rude and insensitive.
I truly believe that if she apologized and said all the right things, she'd be in hotter water than she is now because she'd be in hot water with her base.

19. She doesn't have to, her supporters don't think she did anything wrong |
|
and that's all she needs. Oh, and a paid spot as a Fox contributor. They don't think she did anything wrong either. She'll probably get a bonus.
