I have a specialiast where I live but y primary Doctor does not like the treatment I am getting from him and is sending me to Bascom Palmer in Miami which is about 150 miles from me.

1. Sorry, I haven't been there.
I did have to see a Neuro-ophthamologist at the UPMC Eye & Ear institute.

You might not be seeing the same type of specialist, but I had several people (Doctors & therapists) tell me that a specialized eye facility is the way to go. The level of training is beyond that of the specialists that I had seen up to that point. The Dr. that examined me was able to tell me things about my condition that probably would have been missed by a neurologist or an ophthamologist. Actually, several of each had already missed the proper diagnosis.

It wasn't real great news, but at least it was a difinitive answer.

If the Dr. has a connection to Wills Eye Inst. in Philadephia, the Wilmer Eye Inst. at Hopkins or the Mayo Clinic, those are the three places that were mentioned by the Dr's. here as being the best in this part of the country.

Here's a link that looks very promising for you.

2. Thanks.
The problem I am having is scaring on my right cornea due to shingles. The Specialist I saw where I live basically told me to live with it. Needless to say My primary Doctor just about shit his pants when he heard that reply & encouraged to file a complaint with the Medical board here in Florida.

5. You're welcome.
I had several eye care specialists locally tell me that things like double vision, blurred vision, loss of depth perception, vertigo, blind spots and other goodies (at the same time) are to be expected by anyone once they hit 40, and are thus NORMAL!!!??? :wow:

The Dr. who saw me in Pittsburgh was stunned to put it mildly. She was one of the nicest and down to earth Dr's. that I've met since this all started. At least it wasn't a tumor, just permanent ischemic damage to the brain, brain stem and spinal cord. It was a bittersweet diagnosis, but at least it was a diagnosis. Sometimes just having an answer is good news.

3. My mother did. We lived in Miami at the time.
She also had an operation for cataracts and received excellent treatment.
