Fugitive dictator Moammar Gaddafi today warned he would not surrender and that his troops were well-armed and ready for battle in his latest defiant message from hiding.

In a recording issued to a television station, the former Libyan leader claimed that the country's tribes were still loyal to him and prepared to defend him.

The statement was aired by Syrian-based Al-Rai TV, which has previously broadcast several statements by Gaddafi and his sons.

'We won't surrender again; we are not women, we will keep fighting,' Gaddafi said. He has been on the run since August 20 after opposition forces took control of much of the capital Tripoli.
