If the President really does "go big"
as has been rumored (assuming that their idea of "big" is remotely similar to mine), I'm willing to get back on board and bring my checkbook with me. I know, fool me once, won't get fooled again, and all that, but I'm just dumb enough to throw my lot back in with him. I hope it happens.

2. Is it really that simple? Who will you vote for in 2012, if not Obama?

3. I was a max donor last time.
and volunteered for the legal team in my state that prepared for election day, was a canvasser and was an legal observer at the polls. I have more to offer than my vote, and right now I'm not offering.

7. Without hardworking Democrats like you, O. would not have carried Indiana.
It was so close there - 49.9% Obama to 49% McCain.

I worked just as hard in Pennsylvania, but we have a far bluer state.

4. You are right. It really is not that simple...
If a Democrat ends up voting for Obama but when he is with his friends and at work and everyone reflects negatively toward the President, then it is much more valuable than simply one vote or asking who else are you going to vote for? It is the overall environment that is also important.

5. He'll "go big" with talk of future action, or demands he knows Congress won't meet.

I anticipate a package of multiple suggestions/proposals, some of which WILL go through quickly like the 3 proposed mini-NAFTAs, or more cash incentives/tax breaks going to corporates/businesses. As to any proposals which progressives could support, I expect deja vu flowery campaign rhetoric, which his prior behavior indicates will NOT be honored.

To wit: "I'll end the Iraq war in my first year", morphed into "All troops will be out of Iraq by the end of 2011", morphing into begging the Iraqi parliament to ask the US to leave an indefinite number of troops in Iraq for an indefinite amount of time.

Keep in mind the rules of evidence, and the general principles of contract law, counselor. Empty promises of future action versus concrete and immediate actions. Obama got "consideration", i.e., our votes, but he never delivered the goods on many of his campaign promises. If one of your clients got stiffed in a contractual transaction, would you advise them to sue for specific performance, or would you advise your client to abandon their claim and enter into yet another contract with the party who was in breach? If you chose the latter option you're wide open for a professional malpractice suit.

As one of my favorite senior partners used to say, "I want some quid for that pro quo."

On edit, with thanks to poster DirkGently: I forgot a biggie in the anticipated business friendly proposals - LOTS more deregulation. That's where Obama will go the biggest, and that will get him the most payback re campaign donations.

8. He's broken trust again and again. It's time for him to actually deliver.
Oh sweet Jesus have I heard the stirring speeches. That's the first thing that made me sit up and take notice- his speech on race so many years ago, involving the Reverend Wright. Excellent speech. One of many excellent speeches.

But he needs to deliver.
