Is Obama going to go big in his speech? That's all I care about. |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-01-11 06:15 PM by senseandsensibility
Is he going to go left? Will he propose ANY new regs on banks, tax hikes on corporations and the wealthy, or stimulus?
I could care less about the latest tiff about the speech time. But if his jobs proposal is wishy washy, I don't know how can come back from that.

2. Do you really need to ask that? |
|
Of course it will be wishy washy. He'll pull his usual "both sides need to get beyond their rigid ideology" horse shit. And most of what he'll end up proposing will be at their most leftward, warmed over Republican policies that they will of course no longer support because they are being proposed by Obama.
He'll (no surprise) not win over any Republicans or even right leaning independents, and he'll do nothing to appeal to liberals at all.

I sincerely hope you're wrong, but I can understand your lack of expectations. It does hurt to be disappointed so many times, and I am afraid that your prediction rings true for me.

They were just so reasonable and compromising so he had every reason to believe the debt limit increase would just go so smoothly. I mean nobody could have seen that debt limit debacle coming a mile a way. Totally out of left field.
But yeah, THIS time he knows. THIS time he'll act differently.

I want my President to go big, think big, and act BIG. I don't need a Franklin Roosevelt, but I sure would love a Teddy Roosevelt right now. A trust breaking, safety regulating, conservationist, populist, rough riding, ass kicker! But based on all experiences to date, President Obama sees his role as President through a different lens.
Head, this is Heart. I know you too haven't met, but...

welcome at this time. I really think that most liberals are going to start tuning him out for good if he tries to push more warmed up repug think tank ideas from the nineties. They wouldn't have worked then, and they will ruin our economy now.

anyone would buy into that horseshit, but it is LAW now. He appears to really like The Chamber of Commerce's job Ideas, word for word he has talked about 90% of what they are talking about, including more free trade. I expect his plan to closely mirror this one: http://www.industryweek.com/articles/u-s-_chamber_of_commerce_unveils_job-creation_plan_25482.aspx?Page=2&SectionID=3

|
the mississippi river needs billions in improvements.the southwest and other parts of the country is in a drought. factories are still closing and tens of millions are unemployed. food stamps just got cut and winter is on the way..
winter is just a few months away and only mother nature knows what she has in store for the country.
he`ll go small because he does`t want to piss off those fucking tea bagging republican traitors in congress and the corporations that will fund his billion dollar presidency.
of course i could be wrong and he`d have a FDR moment. just like the one that gave my parents hope that the depression would end.

30. Nope. He will give us the typical "both sides are to blame" and "both sides have good ideas and |
|
that we need to take a balanced approach of tax cuts for corporations and patience by those seeking work". My guess would be that he will announce a tax holiday on those that wish to repatriate money from overseas by stating that those monies will be invested in jobs.
I think Obama spend too much time reading working papers by the Cato institute.
