Tè Tremblé: Remembering the Earthquake in Haiti
One year ago today, Haiti was devastated by a massive earthquake. Up to a quarter of a million people were killed and more than 1.5 million were made homeless. It was one of the worst natural disasters in history. We go back to January 12, 2010, and to the aftermath of the earthquake—what Haitians call Tè Tremblé, the earth trembles.

1. I gave to Doctors without borders -- and last night..

got a call asking for more. I have given to them before in connection with disasters with no calls and very few mailings.

They are now off my "list" as is Planned Parenthood for spending my donation on hiring calls and glossy mailings.

I know both are worthy causes, but I really resent my money spent on such things. A couple of mailings or regular Emails - Ok - but there is a point when the promotion makes a donation reduced to a pittance.

3. Saw documentary this week about how RAM (Remote Area Medical) is flying in aid

by the sheer will of its founders, Haiti gets help. Love that group
